Port Cottage is a charming 18c fisherman’s cottage, sleeping up to four and just 40 metres from the harbour at Newlyn! A wonderful location for a holiday, close to the sea, harbour and amenities, yet tucked away from the traffic and bustle of the town.
The cottage is a short walk from all the shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants that Newlyn has to offer. The harbour is home to many fishing vessels which you can watch come and go, unloading their catch. Seafood doesn’t come much fresher than in Newlyn, where local eateries serve delicious meals with fish straight from the harbour market and into the pan. There's a convenience store, bakery and pharmacy just down the road and the bustling town of Penzance is only a 5 minute drive away with a selection of supermarkets as well as more pubs, restaurants and high street shops. Newlyn is an ideal location for exploring the west coast of Cornwall with pretty fishing villages, like Mousehole, and amazing sandy coves in abundance.
The ground floor is an open-plan lounge and kitchen diner centred around the staircase. The kitchen has wooden floors, plenty of storage and is equipped with a Rayburn for cooking, under-counter fridge, washing machine, microwave, kettle and toaster. In the living room there’s a real flame gas fire which is perfect for creating that warm cosy cottage atmosphere. There’s a two seater sofa and comfy chair with Freeview TV and DVD player.
Stairs to the first floor are a little narrower and steeper than normal. Bedroom one has a 4’6" double bed, bedside table and lamp, a triple wardrobe and chest of drawers with mirror on top. The second bedroom also has a 4’6” double bed, bedside tables and lamp. The shower room is accessed through the main bedroom and has a shower cubicle, handbasin, toilet and heated towel rail.
Although the cottage has no outdoor space, the front of the property has some pretty planted window boxes and the harbour offers many places to sit and watch the world go by. You can walk from Newlyn to Penzance along the sea front promenade where there are play parks, an arcade and the Jubilee Pool; an open air, sea filled swimming pool.
Access to the property is around 40m from the road up a side street. Due to the unique location of the cottage, there is no dedicated parking space, however a weekly parking permit can be purchased from the harbour office (opposite co-op) for the harbour car park, which is approx 240metres away, for £6.50. The harbour office is open Monday to Friday 0830 to 1630 so it is advised that you contact the cottage owner prior to arrival to arrange for a parking ticket to be supplied in the cottage ready for your arrival if required.
Rental includes bedlinen, towels and electricity. Heating is by night storage heaters throughout and the gas fire in the living room. A dog will be accepted by prior arrangement at £25 per week.
