Porthallow Walking Views
Roskorwell, Lizard Peninsula
A rural hamlet where Roskorwell Manor sits prominently amongst a handful of outlying barn conversions, farmhouses and smaller cottages.
Situated less than half a mile from Porthallow Cove, where the charming cottages are scattered up the sides of the valley, and with a pretty pebble beach at the centre. The Five Pilchards Inn is a popular pub right by the beach, which serves good food with a welcoming atmosphere. They serve locally-sourced fish dishes and also offer takeaway pizzas and Cornish Pasties in the summer season.
The South West Coast Path passes through Porthallow where the halfway point is marked by a granite sculpture on the beach. The path encompasses 630 miles of coastline between Minehead in Somerset, around the bottom of Devon and Cornwall, then all the way up to Poole in Dorset!
The path is easily accessed from Roskorwell, from here you can walk to local beauty spots such as Nare Head, Gillan and Flushing or further along the Helford River. In the other direction you can visit the beaches at Porthkerris, Porthoustock or even Coverack and beyond if you're feeling adventurous.
