Dummer's Loft sits right on the edge of the beach at the heart of Cadgwith Cove. This superb location has spectacular sea views from the spacious open plan living/dining room and the main bedroom. The excellent position owes to its history as a capstan house, used to winch the fishing boats up onto the beach. The interior has been modernised into a stylish, comfortable and cosy beach side retreat whilst retaining some of that historic charm.
Dummer's Loft is now available for a Christmas booking with a flexibility of arrival and departure date to the 27th December.A minimum of 7 nights.
Cadgwith is a traditional Cornish fishing village, brimming with character. The smaller fishing boats land their daily catch on the beach at high tide and this can all be watched right from the patio, or from within the warmth of the loft. To truly enjoy the spectacular scenery surrounding Cadgwith, you should set out on the South West Coast Path, passing through neighbouring villages and beaches; taking you as far as your legs will allow! The local pub is just over the road where you can can still listen to traditional sea shanty songs on a weekly basis which really captures the spirit of the village. There’s also a cafe/restaurant, crab shop and gift shop in the cove. The nearest town of Helston with larger shops and supermarkets is a short drive away.
From the sea front terrace you enter through double doors into the open plan, tiled floor, living and dining room; where the character of this property makes itself immediately known with its exposed stone walls and wooden beams (some low in places). In the living area there’s a comfy corner sofa wrapped around the deep set fireplace with a cosy woodburner, for creating a really toasty atmosphere. There’s also a TV with Blu-ray/DVD player and Apple TV as well as some games, DVD’s and a selection of books. For dining you’ve got the indoor option, a wooden table with 6 chairs, positioned to take advantage of the sea view. Or, head outside and make use of the outdoor furniture, dining on the terrace taking in the sea air too. Blankets are provided to allow you to sit on the terrace even when the evening chill sets in to enjoy the sound of the sea and take in the star lit sky.
The newly fitted kitchen is equipped with a built-in Neff oven and combination Microwave/Grill, Neff hob, Bosch fridge/freezer, Bosch dishwasher and a washing machine and the all important kettle, toaster and Nespresso coffee machine.
The staircase to the first floor is open tread and has a low ceiling on the way back down so please take care. Upstairs are three bedrooms, a bathroom and a shower room.
The main bedroom has sea views from the super king bed, this room also has a wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables with lamps and a TV. The second bedroom has 2 x 3ft zip and link single beds (can be made up as a super king) wardrobe, chest of drawers with lamp. Bedroom three is a single room, with chest of drawers and bedside table with lamp.
The bathroom has a tiled floor, bath with electric shower over, handbasin and loo. The separate shower room has a shower enclosure, handbasin and loo.
Please note: Whilst the terrace at the front is for guest use and furniture is provided, there is a public right of way from the beach along the terrace, although rarely used. Access to Beach Cottage is also across the terrace. Please ensure children and dogs are supervised when outside as the terrace leads down to the beach without any fencing.
Parking is in the public car park, 400 metres, with season ticket provided. Rental includes: towels, bed linens, season parking permit, heating by electric radiators, electricity and WiFi.
One dog is welcome by prior arrangement at £25 per week.
Starter logs are provided however if you wish to have a supply available throughout your stay then please select the option 'Log Supply' during booking at £30 per week.
