Ruan Minor, Lizard Peninsula
Ruan Minor is a peaceful village on the southern Lizard Peninsula, surrounded by rolling countryside and situated a short distance inland from the picturesque fishing cove of Cadgwith. With its traditional character and rural setting, the village offers a quieter alternative to some of Cornwall's busier coastal destinations.
At the heart of the village stands the historic St Rumonus Church, while the surrounding area has a long association with the Lizard Peninsula's distinctive serpentine stone. The nearby former serpentine works are a reminder of the local industry that once produced decorative ornaments and architectural stonework.
Cadgwith, just a short distance away, is one of the peninsula's most attractive fishing villages, with thatched cottages, colourful boats and a small working harbour. The South West Coast Path passes through the cove, offering spectacular walks along the rugged coastline towards Kennack Sands in one direction and Lizard Point in the other.
The wider area offers plenty to explore, including the beautiful beaches at Kennack Sands and Kynance Cove, the dramatic scenery around Lizard Point and the shops, pubs and cafés of nearby Lizard village.
With its peaceful countryside setting and easy access to the coast, Ruan Minor is an appealing base for visitors looking to discover the quieter side of the Lizard Peninsula. Holiday accommodation can also be found in neighbouring Cadgwith and the surrounding area.
