Falmouth, South Coast

Falmouth sits beside one of the finest natural deep water anchorages in the world.

Internationally renowned for its sailing waters, the port has been the departure or arrival point for a number of record breaking voyages and is a popular port of call for cruise ships. 

As one of Cornwall’s most bustling towns there is a lot to see and do. The town centre has many small individual shops offering locally made or more unusual items as well as a wide choice of cafes, restaurants and pubs.  Around Falmouth Bay there are sandy beaches and rock pools to explore. Pendennis Castle is an English Heritage attraction with its own programme of events including medieval jousting. For inclement days there is The National Maritime Museum, cinema, a small aquarium and a leisure centre.  The Princess Pavilion offers evening entertainment throughout the year, with local bands and choirs performing during the Summer season.

The Summer brings a busy event programme. Falmouth Week in August is the main event in the sailing calendar, with shore side entertainment as well as a full racing programme. Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival and Falmouth Oyster Festival are also popular annual events.

Falmouth is surrounded by some of the best of Cornwall's great gardens such as Trebah, Trelissick and Glendurgan.  It is a convenient base for exploring further afield, with may attractions being within an hour's drive.
