Situated on both sides of the River Looe, with a connecting bridge. Its fleet of small fishing boats returning their catches to the port, Looe has a reputation for producing excellent fresh fish. In the Summer season there are fishing trips and boat trips available. East Looe's beach is beside Banjo Pier, a popular place to watch boats departing and returning.
Looe's amenities include pubs, restaurants, shops and a Tourist Information Centre. A branch railway line connects Looe with Liskeard, and the main Penzance to Paddington line. The branch line is a scenic alternative to the road. There are countryside walks from the stations en route.
