The Round House is a Grade II listed building, and its semi-circular design makes it a truly unique holiday home. Perched on the cliff above the slipway at Church Cove, it offers a stunning setting for a romantic getaway or special occasion, such as an anniversary or honeymoon. Originally housing the cove’s capstan, the building boasts breathtaking sea views and an unforgettable atmosphere steeped in history.
Just under a mile away is Lizard village, where you’ll find everything you need for a relaxing stay. The Top House Inn is a welcoming, dog-friendly pub serving hearty food, while Chimichangas offers a popular Tex-Mex menu. There’s also a convenience store, local craft shops, and cafés to explore, perfect for picking up a few treats or enjoying a bite to eat after a coastal walk.
Entered through a stable door into the well-equipped kitchen area, you’ll find a tiled floor, breakfast bar, and everything needed for self-catering, including an electric cooker and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, and microwave.
At the curved front of the house is the characterful beamed lounge, where 3-foot-thick exposed serpentine stone walls, the original capstan timber, and a beamed ceiling create a warm and inviting space. The ceramic tiled floor with cosy rugs adds to the charm. Furnishings include two comfortable sofas, a dining table and chairs, a Welsh dresser, occasional tables, a writing desk, and a Smart TV. A multi-fuel wood burner provides extra comfort on cooler evenings, perfect after a walk along the cliff paths. Storage heaters offer gentle background warmth throughout the day. French doors open to the front garden and reveal a stunning view down over the slipway and cove below.
A pine staircase leads up to the spacious en suite bedroom, where a polished wooden floor, exposed stone walls, and a large timber beam spanning the width of the house showcase the character of the original structure. The bedroom is furnished with a 5' king-size bed, bedside tables with lamps, a wardrobe, seating area, and a storage heater for added comfort.
The en suite bathroom features a bath with shower over, toilet, handbasin, and a heated towel rail.
Outside, there’s a rear cliffside garden with a bench, perfect for a quiet moment with a sea breeze, and a front garden with a picnic bench for dining al fresco.
Private parking is available for one car in the nearby residents’ car park.
Rental includes WiFi, bed linen, towels, and utilities.
Two well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement, at £25 per dog, per week
