South Coast Lizard Peninsula North Coast West Coast

Sennen Cove, West Cornwall

Sennen Cove is a picturesque coastal village on the far western tip of Cornwall, famous for its sweeping sandy beach, excellent surfing and spectacular Atlantic scenery. Situated just a short distance from Land's End, the cove combines a traditional fishing harbour with one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline on the Penwith Peninsula.

The magnificent sandy beach stretches north from the harbour towards neighbouring Gwynver Beach, with golden sands, rolling Atlantic waves and plenty of space to enjoy the coast. Popular with surfers and families alike, Sennen is one of Cornwall's best-known surfing destinations, with surf schools and seasonal lifeguard cover. The beach is also a wonderful place for a walk, particularly at low tide when the sands extend along much of the bay.

At the southern end of the beach, Sennen Cove's small working harbour is surrounded by traditional cottages, cafés, galleries and shops. Fishing boats still operate from the harbour, providing a reminder of the village's maritime heritage, while the surrounding waterfront offers lovely views across the bay.

The South West Coast Path passes through Sennen Cove, offering memorable walks along the rugged cliffs towards Land's End, where dramatic granite headlands overlook the Atlantic Ocean. In the opposite direction, the coast path continues towards Gwynver and Cape Cornwall, passing some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in west Cornwall.

Just inland, Sennen village offers further amenities, while nearby destinations include Porthcurno, the famous Minack Theatre and the historic town of St Just. The wider Penwith Peninsula is rich in ancient monuments, mining heritage and beautiful countryside.

With its magnificent beach, traditional harbour and outstanding coastal scenery, Sennen Cove is a wonderful destination for discovering Cornwall's wild Atlantic coastline.
