South Coast Lizard Peninsula North Coast West Coast

St Just, West Cornwall

St Just is a historic market town on the rugged Penwith Peninsula in west Cornwall, surrounded by spectacular coastal scenery and a landscape shaped by centuries of tin and copper mining. Situated a short distance inland from Cape Cornwall, St Just is the most westerly town in mainland Britain and offers a fascinating blend of Cornish heritage, independent shops and traditional community life.

At the heart of the town is Market Square, surrounded by attractive historic buildings, cafés, pubs and small independent shops. St Just has a thriving arts community, with galleries and studios reflecting the area's long association with artists and craftspeople. The town also hosts the annual Lafrowda Festival, a colourful celebration of local arts, music and community.

The surrounding countryside is part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site, with historic engine houses and mine workings scattered across the dramatic coastal landscape. Nearby Botallack is particularly famous for its remarkable Crown Mines, where engine houses cling to the cliffs above the Atlantic Ocean, while the wider Tin Coast offers fascinating walks through Cornwall's industrial past.

Just a short distance west of the town lies Cape Cornwall, a striking headland overlooking the Atlantic, with far-reaching views along the coast. The South West Coast Path passes through this beautiful area, offering memorable walks past rugged cliffs, secluded coves and historic mining remains.

St Just is also well placed for exploring the far west of Cornwall, with Sennen Cove, Land's End and Porthcurno all within easy reach. The surrounding countryside is rich in ancient monuments, traditional villages and spectacular coastal viewpoints.

With its welcoming town centre, fascinating mining heritage and proximity to some of Cornwall's wildest coastline, St Just is an excellent place to discover the distinctive character of the Penwith Peninsula.
