Polzeath Beach is a wide, sandy bay on the north coast of Cornwall, close to Rock and the Camel Estuary. Surrounded by cliffs and backed by the lively village of Polzeath, it is one of North Cornwall's best-known surfing beaches and a popular destination for families, walkers and watersports enthusiasts.
The Atlantic swell attracts surfers of all abilities, with surf schools and equipment hire available locally. At lower tides the beach opens into a broad expanse of sand, with rock pools around the edges providing plenty to explore away from the waves.
Polzeath is also an excellent starting point for coastal walks. The South West Coast Path climbs onto the surrounding headlands, with the route towards Pentire Point offering spectacular views across the coast and towards the mouth of the Camel Estuary. Nearby Daymer Bay provides a contrasting, more sheltered beach setting.
The village has a good choice of cafés, shops and places to eat, with parking and toilets close to the beach. Combining excellent surfing, coastal scenery and convenient facilities, Polzeath is an ideal base for enjoying this beautiful stretch of North Cornwall.
